Bristol TN Non-Race

Planning a trip to New York from Alabama and looking at an overnight around Bristol TN.

Search turned up a lot of info for race weekends, But if Bristol is like Talladega some of those places are closed except for race weekends.

Any suggestions for a stopover park near the interstate?

This would be in early to mid June?

  • X2 for Baleyton. Stayed there end of October. Very nice overnight and bonus it is a Passport America park.
  • Last June we spent a night at Shadrack Campground in Bristol. It is beside a pretty creek and has pleasant, shady campsites. We had full hookups for $26, with either a Good Sam or an Escapees discount. Just up the road is the Mad Greek, an excellent and reasonably priced restaurant. lizzie
  • how about around johnson city?

  • At Exit 5 in Bristol, VA, (exits are 7, 5, 3, 1 and then 74 in TN) there is Sugar Hollow Park, a locality owned campground that has some sites with water/electric. It's $15/night for electric sites, $12 for non-electric.

At Exit 57B in TN, another 20 miles down the road, about 3 miles off of the interstate is Warriors' Path SP in TN. Lots of sites.

Outside of Marion, VA at Exit 47 is Hungry Mother SP. It is about 5 miles off the interstate.

In Virginia, SP prices are $30/night and TN SP are $20/night.

If I can help more, just hit me a PM. This is close to home, so I know many of the area campgrounds.
  • Check Rocky Top Campground in Blountville. About 11 miles from Speedway. Small park but gets good reviews. There is also Bristol Kingsport KOA at the same exit. Read reviews for both on www.rvparkreviews.com under Blountville.
  • Traveling toward Bristol from Knoxville, about 10-15 miles before you get to Bristol, there is a KOA and another RV park, Rocky Top, I believe. They are at the same exit as the Tri Cities airport. Also a Cracker Barrel there. There is RV parking in the rear if you don't need hookups.
