Take a drive around and see if anyone nearby is selling on the roadside. I've always had good luck that way. Earlier this week we followed a firewood sign down a gravel road. Turned out to be an Amish farm where the young man sold me enough for 2 nights of an excellent campfire for $4. It was the driest and best campfire wood I've ever had.
