Bryce Canyon mid May

We were down there last May and the crowds were bad. We really enjoyed staying in Kodachrome, probably our favorite park. We drove through the campgrounds in Bryce and decided it wasn't worth getting stuck or damaging our rig trying to get in there. Also none of the sites looked like they could fit our length. Our trailer is 38'6" and with the truck attached is 55'.

Sunset is the name of the Campground.

For Sunset campground see this link. It states that Loop A has the bigger sites but RV combinations of over 45' are discouraged.

When I was on the rec.gov site all of the site lengths were listed some @40 feet but I did not see any Reservable sites. I will call rec.gov they have always been helpful on the phone.

Thanks, I check Rec.Gov it has the length for the North Campground but not the Sunset Campground. . . . . :o

We reserved site B 14 in the North Campground. Plenty of room for about any rig.

Here are some sites we liked for our 40' motorhome in North Campground in Bryce. Loops A, preferable and B are where you should head for a big rig. Sunset Campground has small sites.

North C.G. in order of our preference: A26, A11, A30, A24, A28

If you can't find anything there and I'd try to be there early morning and a couple days before Memorial weekend - we really enjoy Red Canyon campground, Dixie national forest on Hwy 12 about 5 mi. west of Bryce.... some nice hiking there, also. Sites we like for a big rig: 28, 33, 32, 31, 16, 30, 35, 1, 2, 6, 30, 3

We've returned to favorite campgrounds many times over the years of our full-timing adventure and we don't make reservations so I have an extensive list of our favorites - like 300 pages for the U.S., Canada, Yukon and Alaska. :)

I just thought of something for reservations - perhaps you're too early to make them for your date.......

Kodachrome SP isn't too far away, I think they start reservations March 1st. Just another option... They've got full hook-ups too, as a bonus.

May can be good or bad....so be ready for mild or cold weather and definitely be aware of the possibility of flash floods while hiking.
