Ruby's. It is right outside the entrance to Bryce.

Do be aware that the EAST entrance to Zion cannot accommodate vehicles taller than about 11 feet. If your motorhome is taller than that, don't even try it.

Zion tunnel. Over 11’-4” high requires a permit. Over 13’-1” is prohibited.

Red Canyon USFS CG 10 miles from Bryce.

KOA in Panguitch. Not upscale but there are MH’s spots. Just outside of town and a pleasant drive to Bryce.

Also, you have to pay for an escort through the tunnel, and while that's happening, you'll be blocking all traffic in both directions.

The road into and out of Zion to the east isn't exactly motorhome-friendly even if you don't consider the tunnel. It might be better to take the long way around from Bryce--Hwy 20 west to I-15, south to Hwy 9 just north of St. George, thence into the park. Somewhat longer, but probably much easier.

If it's March or later in the year, you (and any other vehicles) may not even be admitted into the park, due to very limited parking (unless you have a campground reservation). You'd have to park in Hurricane and take the shuttle bus in. You also have to use the shuttle bus to visit the northern parts of the park road (Virgin Narrows, etc.) after March 1.

Bryce Canyon Pines CG, about 4 miles west of the 63/12 junction which leads into the Bryce City and the NP. We looked at a few in the area in 2015, and they seemed more than reasonably priced, and had just redone their shower building. Also had food and gas on site.

They were cheaper w/FHU than the NP campgrounds. They raised the NP CG prices to pay for the improvements to the bathrooms and addition of the asphalt walking/cycling trail. $30/night for bathrooms?

btw, there's a little pizza joint in Tropic - eat in or take out - if you like that kind of option for food. It's licensed for alcohol. We eat there at least once every visit. Also recommend the Cowboy Pot Roast or the buffet at Ruby's Inn in Bryce City.

You have to cook cowboys for a long time before they're tender, especially since the ones available these days are kind of old, tough, and stringy. I prefer beef.

Ruby's is a pretty good base for exploring Bryce. It's also pretty much the ONLY base, unless you wish to stay inside the park in the Amphitheater area.

1. I think one of the campgrounds at Zion is closed. I do not know when it will reopen. We could not get in Zion in the Spring.

2. We plan to dry camp east of Zion on BLM land at N37° 15.584' W112° 46.113' or N37° 15.039' W112° 45.558' which I think is Route 71A. Near the Mt Carmel junction

3. Anyone else who has dry camped in this area your advice is welcome.

We also stayed here. It just suited us, though it may not be everyone's "cup of tea." All I can say is, we would probably go right back there.

We also liked Bryce Canyon Pines -- quieter than Ruby's. But others have had problems with the electrical service there. We did not.
