Cade's Cove November 1

Are those sites open that late in the year... We go to ELKMONT usually in the late SEP Early OCT time frame... Seems like most of everything around there has a sign in their windows says see you in May or something like that...

Have been in the towns during the winter months but always stay in hotels...

Just checked CADES COVE Home page and it is open until 31 DEC 2017...
Says ELKMONT is open until 26 NOV 2017...

I guess first come first served means just that...

There are several great camping places in Townsend TN just outside the West entrance to the Natl Park if they get full up...

This page says open year round. You can only reserve sites until end of October though.

If you go to recreation.gov they are listed as first come first serve for this timeframe.

I have a hard time believing it would be full up, especially if you go in on a weekday. Now if it was a beautiful weekend and you roll in late on Friday... maybe.

You could call and ask to talk to a ranger familiar with the campground.

We have stayed there in mid Sep and half the sites were empty, but I would consider Nov 1 to still be in the leaf peeper time frame so it could be different.


Like already said call and talk to a ranger at the Sugarland Visitors Center, maybe they can help.

Just remember October is the busiest month of the year! There are still plenty of tourist still around the first of November. Usually the third week in October is the busiest so it depends when they go back home.

November (with the exception of Thanksgiving week) is never full. We were there last year for a week in November. A couple of days we could not even see another RV when sitting outside our travel trailer. Most days 7 - 10 other RVs. We go every year from Nov thru Jan and have never had a problem. However, prepare for the cold temps. One year when the weather forecast totally missed its mark, we were snowed in....only about 2 inches of snow but the gate is shut to prevent accidents on the way out of Cades Cove. Just go prepared!

The first week in November might be tricky? the rest of the month should be okay, not sure about Turkey day weekend. I'd call the park itself. I'm sure they could tell you.

I called and they said it may still be a little busy but I should be able to get a spot. I plan to get there @ 2:00 to beat the crowd hopefully.
