If you are an old fart, then you probably don't care about the amenities for kids, unless you are traveling with your grandkids. But for us younger farts who still have kids at home, it's the kids vacation too. We do try to find places that offer that sort of stuff or things that will give our kid somethign they will like to do. Not all kids like to hike or fish. Some like to interact with other kids and make friends. Some like to swing, go on a merry go round, swim in a pool, bounce on a bouncy pillow or trampoline.
With that said, we value a park or resort based on what you get for the money. If there are no hook ups or only hook ups and nothing else. Then it's probably not a place we will go with exception if it is a government park or an overnighter on a destination trip. And then again, we would expect lower prices (no more than $30-40/night). Start adding the amenities for the kids and other things like cable tv, wifi and etc, then the price goes up.
