We are planning a trip to Arizona and Utah around the end of June through part of July. Are campgrounds available during the summer? We would like to find a campground and stay put for several days to explore Utah national parks and see the Grand Canyon and Sedona. We wondered if they would be limited with school out and people traveling.Thanks.Linda

For the Grand Canyon you might take a look at Ten X; that's outside the park and it's USFS.For Arches we like Wind Whistle a BLM about 30 miles away. There are quite a few closer in.You can kind of get an idea by looking at the CG's that are on the receration.gov reservation system.

Summer time is usually a little slower around Arches due to the heat. You should be able to find a good park in Moab with just a little advance notice. The Grand Canyon is quite a bit busier in the summer. You'll probably have to find a campground outside the park. If you really want to see some beautiful sights, try going to the North Rim and camping in the forest. There are few crowds on the north side.

Make reservations now.Trailer Village is hugely popular and could already be booked up by now. The town of Williams AZ south of the Canyon would be your best bet if Trailer Village is full.

I couldn't tell you the park but we stayed in Moab pretty close to Arches and Canyonlands and made reservations in July for an August trip.
