We currently have reservations in the Fort Worden Campground for three nights at the the end of July. We would like to adjust our travel by a couple of days. There are no camp sites available for that time at at Fort Worden. Fort Flagler is available. Any thoughts on this campground or another in the area that would be a good spot to park for a few nights to explore? We would like to see as much as possible in the area and include some hiking and a ferry trip into Seattle.

What are you camping in? That might make a difference as to whether you would be able to find something in the Sequim area. There is a county park (Dungeness) and a Washington State Park (Sequim Bay).

Chimacum (Escapees park) is just down the road.

We parked twice at the fairgrounds. Pretty good, and a dump on site.There is a park downtown at a marina--not sure of it.

Ft. Flagler is very good. Beautiful park and setting. Both SP's mentioned are quite a jaunt from Seattle if that is a goal. If it was me I would stay over on the Olympic Peninsula as you are at Ft. Flagler and make an early AM to late PM day of it by driving to Bremerton, parking the vehicle, "walking on" the ferry to Seattle, and messing around the Seattle waterfront/downtown area. Plenty to see and do. Make a day of it. Pike St Market, Safeco Field (Mariners)/Century Link Field (Seahawks). Ask directions to the monorail from downtown to the Seattle Center and the Space Needle. Plenty of touristy stuff to do in that waterfront/downtown core for one day. Then take the ferry back to Bremerton to your RV and go explore the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas. That could take you a week and you won't be slogging around and through Seattle traffic.

Our favorite campground in the area is Rest-A-While on the 101 south of Port Angeles. It is really just a full hookup parking lot on the Hood River Canal, but the view and tranquility are wonderful.

Last year in July we wanted to see the Sea-Tac area and decided that the Gig Harbor RV Resort would be right for a HQ. We weren't disappointed during our 1 week stay.

We were about 30 minutes from the Bremerton Ferry that took us to Seattle and can only say that is the way to go and would certainly do again.
