For the last few years I’ve been spending a couple months each winter at Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, MS. That’s about in the middle between your two points. They have FHU sites with monthly rates during the winter. The Silver Slipper Casino is just down the beach with 3 restaurants including a great buffet.
The whole area was pretty much flattened by Katrina so everything is new since then.
