- 2_RetiredExplorerHave stayed at Americamps near Richmond (fits your needs) and Prince William Forest RV Park - no pull thrus that I know of, and some of the sites would not fit your rig. Sites are close as well.
- jerryjay11ExplorerAs retired Air Force I stay at Fort Belvoir. If that's an option.
- The KOA South 40 is in Petersburg which is SOUTH of Richmond...
The Americamps is in Ashland which is NORTH of Richmond... It will depend on where you want to be located.. We prefer Americamps for several reasons..
As far as DC... In my eyes, Cherry Hill Park is a great spot, expensive but great.. - AtleeExplorer IIIf you are looking for something near Richmond, Americamps is a good location. It's about 3 miles from my house. A number of my friends stay there when in town.
It has an Ashland address, but is about 4 miles south of Ashland, at the Lewistown exit off I-95. This is the most direct way to get to it. However, you can get to Americamp from the Atlee exit off I-95 which is the next exit south of Lewistown.
And if you like craft style beer, another convenience is COTU or Center of the Universe Brewing Co is across the road from Americamps. - ependydadExplorerWhat are you trying to see/be near? You want to make sure you're on the right side of DC and in the right area of Northern Virginia. That area can turn a 1 hour drive into 3 at a drop of the hat.

In Richmond, we stayed at South 40 Campground. Reviews aren't great, but our actual stay was good.
We also stayed at Kosmos Village in Glen Allen, VA. Honestly, it was kind of a **** hole but good for an overnight.
Further north, if you're a Thousand Trails member- the Harbor View campground in Colonial Beach, VA is decent.
And then, as mentioned- Bull Run is beautiful w/ full hookups. You can't beat Cherry Hill for convenience to the city (with a price tag that's up there). - mikebreezeExplorerHere are 3 more between Richmond and DC and near I95:
Aquia Pines Campground, Stafford, VA
Prince William Forest RV Campground, Triangle, VA
Pohick Bay Regional Campground, Lorton, VA - RGar974417ExplorerPocohantas State Park has some large pull throughs but I believe it is only water and electric. It is a real nice park and only about 5 miles from gas and groceries. http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/pocahontas#general_information
- jplante4Explorer IIWe've stayed at the Fredricksburg KOA a couple of times. It's quiet and woodsy. Handy to I-95 but not close enough to hear it.
- Aadkins101ExplorerCheck out Americamps in Ashland,VA and the Fredericksburg VA KOA
- We always stayed at Little Bennett Regional Park north of the DC area. Not full hookups back then. Not sure about now. Reasonably priced. In the Richmond area, Pocahontas State Park is nice and they have some newer FHU sites.
