I'm a native to Augusta. In our opinion, the best campgrounds are the COE campgrounds out at the lake. I need to run buy Heritage next time we are back in town to visit our families. I was just there a week ago visiting my mom in the hospital at Ft Gordon and drove close to it going in Gate 1. If you look at the aerial view, you will see that they have made a few sites nice with a patio and what looks like gravel. For years this was a dirt road trailer park. And not really a favorable part of town. You can still see their are full size trailers there. I had heard that a lot of people working in town stay there for longer terms. As mentioned, its been getting some decent reviews as of late. I don't want to give it a bad rap and need to check it out. I just remember what that area looked like and what it was before. If you need to be over by aiken, you can also look back towards Columbia. Betty's RV Park in Beech Island is rated good on RV Parks Review and is a Passport America park. That's another I need to go and check out. No website, but they do have a Facebook page with some photo's. doesn't look bad. Passport America rates (up to 2 days) is either $10 or $15. I guess it depends on 30 or 50 amp. Not a bad deal at all.. Full hook ups, but no bath house.
