Need a place to stay near Coeur d Alene for a few days this summer. Would like to be close to route 95 near Kidd Island. Nearest campground seems to be Blackwell Island but reviews are either great or terrible. Any other rcampground ecommendations in this area or comments on this one would be appreciated.

We've stayed at Blackwell Island several times and had very good experiences. I don't know what poor reviews you are talking about for this place since on RVParkReviews the most recent reviews are mostly 8's and 9's.

Stayed at Blackwell Island in '08, we thought it was pretty good. Some complain of the sawmill noise from across the river, but it wasn't bothersome. We would definitely stay there again if we were in the area!

We stayed at Blackwell Island...close and convenient to the Coeur d Alene scene.Super high water pressure. At check in they asked us to use a water pressure regulator - even sold them at the desk.Lots of goose poop and on going noise from a lumber mill across the lake. Don't know if these are still an issue.Aside: when we were there, there was some kind of Prevost rally..about 15 huge, beautiful coaches - some had full sized Hummers as toads.Really friendly bunch. Invited us to join in a pot luck.Anyway, have a good trip.

The sawmill is no longer across from Blackwell Island. I would guess the worst noise would be the highway, or the neighbors. I haven't ever stayed there so I can't comment on the facility.

My wife and I enjoyed staying at “Alpine Country Store and RV Park” located a few miles north of Coeur d'Alene on U.S. 95. The park does not have a fancy clubhouse, pool, etc., but it does offer full hookups, widely-spaced sites, well-maintained lawns, and mature shade trees. As I recall, almost all the sites were pull-throughs. It was truly like camping in a park – as opposed to camping in a modified parking lot.

If you are an Elks Lodge member the CdA lodge has very nice RV parking. About 1/4 mile west off US 95 on the CdA-Hayden town line. Also very reasonable!

I loved Blackwells. I have stayed there every year since 2002 a couple times a year to visit family. Very easy in and out and nice. the saw mill was not an issue last visit.

We used Wolf Lodge CG and found it very acceptable (http://www.wolflodgecampground.com/). Beautiful area. ST
