Campgrounds Philly?

We stayed at Timberline Campground in Clarksboro, NJ. It was a nice place but very busy and an easy trip into Philly. They are inventive in accommodating as many as possible. We were in an overflow section with water and electric (we were towing a motorcycle pop up trailer) and we were fine with it. I've you look on RVPARKREVIEWS someone discusses using public transportation to get to Philly.

Now thinking about the future - Any suggestions for CG's near Philadelphia? We want to avoid driving into the city proper, so within a reasonable distance to mass transit (with overnight parking, if needed) would be preferred. Idea would be to set up a base camp, commute into one city or the other, and stay a few days with the family, then return to the base camp.

Someone mentioned a unique CG that was in the heart of Philly in an industrial area. It was not a traditional in the woods place but more like Liberty harbor in NYC. It sounded like a good place within city limits.

We've stayed at Timberlane in Clarksboro several times and traveled into Philly on the PATCO train. The Collingswood station is about 20 minutes from the campground, and does have overnight parking available. The fare to the Market St station in Philly is just $2.60, and connections to the SEPTA trains can be made there if needed.

It's definitely not your typical CG. But, if you want to visit Philadelphia it's probably a good choice. The rates seem reasonable for the location.

I live in Bucks County, it is about 45 minutes from that area...

I WOULD NEVER STAY THERE..... It is right off Grays Ferry Avenue, in South West Philadelphia .. I have spent a lot of time in that area in the past for work and would never tell anyone to stay close..

We used to frequent the Ryder Truck Facility right there, and boy were there stories...
I would stay at Timberline and drive in..or get to public transportation...

BUT than again, its only my opinion...

I take it the immediate surrounding area maybe a bit rough. But it sounds like the facility itself is secure. Which is what matters.
Philly does not have a lot of convenient camping options.
Be great to hear from someone that has actually stayed there.

Also recommend Timberlane, but clean out your rig like you are going into a foreign country,
stay safe.
