Parking in Philly

I believe this parking lot accepts RVs and oversized vehicles:

I haven't used it myself.

Visiting the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall is FREE but I do believe time stamped tickets are issued as a means to control the busy summer tourist crowds. For this reason visiting the Historic District it not as simple as just "showing up" ....it takes time....and a half day is way too short to accomplish the items you have on your list. I'm just trying to warn you in advance so you can better manage your visit.

If you have time or interest, Philly's art museum is excellent.

No. Only 2 mixed reviews. I have family in the city and have this listed as my backup. I try to stay out in West Chester at the koa but it is pricey and far from the city. Used to like camping at Oak Grove in Hatfield but it seems to be crowded now with migrant workers/contracters/others and they converted the pool to salt and it was nasty. The price is real low though.

Thank you. We aren't really interested in touring Philly. We just want to do Independence Hall, see the Liberty Bell, get a cheese steak and check out Battleship New Jersey. That's it. We're already visiting NYC, DC, and Baltimore too.
We're both working and have limited vacation time. Two nights isn't going to happen so a drive thru is our best option if we want to see anything at all.

Allowing just a half day to tour Philly simply will not work.....you need at the very least one full day.

I would highly suggest you make a two night reservation at Oak Grove Park. The park is in Hatfield, Pennsylvania and just a few miles off the PA Turnpike. Very nice, clean, level sites.

To visit Philly the train station in Lansdale is an easy 15 minute drive from the RV Park. If you are a senior citizen you can ride the train for one dollar into Market Street Station. The train ride is about 50 minutes. From there you are a short walk, about four blocks to the Historic District. During the summer months a bus called the Philly Phlash runs a continuous loop to all the visitor must see places. If you are a senior citizen the Phlash is free of charge.

If you decide to stay at Oak Grove Park pleas feel free to send me Private Message and I would be happy to give you more details. II live just a few miles from the Oak Grove and we frequently take the train into Philly.

I would not recommend taking the RV and parking it anywhere near Philly in parking lots.

NJ has cheap gas and they insist to pump it.

Take the subway in from the suburbs. They have parking areas near the outer lines that could be used if it's not a weekday. (Weekdays they'll likely be full of commuters' cars.) We like to take the subway in from Haddonfield, NJ.
