Camping at the Lake Havasu Baloon Festival

I've tried several searches for camping both Public Lands and Private CGs but no luck. We have two questions, first is it too late to look for sites with W&E for next year? Is there a favorite BLM or other Federal area around Havasu/

Wife wants to go and she is twisting my are really hard, I need help.
  • Lake Havasu State Park is the nicest in the area.
Not sure if any spots are available for the balloon fest, but give it a try.
  • Disclaimer: I work for the Lake Havasu City Convention & Visitors Bureau. Our event page for the Havasu Balloon Festival & Fair has information about camping options: http://www.golakehavasu.com/events/details/64/6th-annual-havasu-balloon-festival--fair/
  • Haven't been that way in a few years, but there used to be dispersed camping to the east of AZ 95 on BLM land I believe, to the north of the airport and south of the the I 40.
  • Thank all of you for the suggestions. I have tried all those but nothing in any of them about how the RV.NET community feels about places there. Camorhino, I'll look that up on Google Earth and call the District Office.

    Once again Thanks.

I also haven't been out that way for a while, but last time there I had some friends boondocking exactly where you're talking about. Is this balloon thing going on now or the near future? I ask because I have been there in the winter, and it can get super cold.
  • The state park is reserved for a Heartland rally. I am on the waiting list.
