Best advice I could offer is avoid expensive memberships for the first year. Get a feel for the type of camping you enjoy most, ie, commercial and public parks, including Fed/State/City & County. Try a number of them, from resorts, mom and pop parks, to C.O.E. and State Parks. At age 62, the Fed. "geezer" pass will cost $10 and save you 50% at most federal parks. Passport America membership is available for about $44/yr and will save you 50% at participating campgrounds. Just be mindful of each park's restrictions and recognize, it's half price camping. So, don't expect too much. With that experience, you should be able to determine if a campground membership is in your cards. Good luck and travel safe.
