Thinking of planning a camping/flat water kayak trip to Arkansas. Does anyone have any suggestions on campgrounds? I really enjoy quiet, wooded spots. Would like to have 30 amp and water hook up if possible. Also needs to be dog friendly.Thanks ahead for any ideas!

look around greers ferry lake in ak.stayed in a little town called cash ak one time very nice and laid back.

For hurricane Irma, we went to AL to keep our trailer and my father safe. Expecting 15' of storm water surge at our house, we fully expected to be living in our 23'TT for a year or two during rebuilding. The people at cypress lake rv park in Dozier couldn't have been nicer." You don't need a reservation, if you get here, we'll find a space for you ". It is a fairly new park, on lake Gant. I wouldn't call it woodsy,but we will certainly go back. It is pretty far out in rural AL. If you want to be close to anything bigger than a very small town, this isn't it. Worth a look to see if it fits your needs. Sorry, I must have misread your question to read AL. My recommendation still stands though.

Beaver Lake has several COE campgrounds, up in NW Arkansas near Eureka Springs. Also, Lake Catherine SP, Daisy SP are great spots to camp.

The state of Arkansas has nearly 4,000 federal campsites (NPS, USFS & COE) with 30 amp power, most with water. Water in all campgrounds. Most campgrounds are shady enough to make it a challenge to find a spot where a satellite dish can get a clear signal in the summer. Most are on lakes or rivers. The primary kayaking location would be the NPS Buffalo Point Campground on the Buffalo National River. The sites are on the river. At last check 47 of the 76 - 50 amp with water sites were reservable at $22 per night regular price. $11 for the senior pass.

JFK COE in Heber Springs is a great campground right below the dam. It is right on the river and offers Great fishing for trout.How the river is for a Kayak i do not know. So can't help there.I do know as someone else already mentioned the Buffalo River is the place for Kayak and Canoe trips.I made the trip down the river once many years ago in a canoe from one of the many outfitters in the area.I have been to many of the State Parks in Arkansas and have not found a bad one yet. So those would be an option for you also.

We love Lake Ouachita State Park for all the reasons stated above. Plus, it is almost completely undeveloped, so you really feel like you're away from it all.

I will admit a bias about Arkansas.

I grew up in the state, we spent an average of 20 weekends a year on Lake Greeson in a COE park.

I’ve camped on almost every COE lake in the state, over half the state parks, and many of the Arkansas River COE campgrounds.

I’ll take almost any park in Arkansas when I can.

The hard part about camping in Arkansas is that there are so many incredibly great places that it is hard to pick one.
