Camping near Beaumont, Texas

Gulf Coast RV Park is very nice, until it rains. Then nothing drains. You have to wade in ankle deep mud and water to hook up/disconnect.

Generally, most TX state park campgrounds don't handle MH size campers. Sites are short, narrow, 30A, tight turns with obstacles (trees, barriers), not level and built to specs from the past for TT types. If you're new to maneuvering a MH you'll appreciate the bigrig room...most state parks will frustrate you and challenge your driving skills. The newer than state park, private camps are made to handle larger rigs and they throw in the pools, rec rooms, wifi...resort type amenities. Thus the transition of campgrounds. Gulf Coast RV Park is our spot. I wouldn't attempt Village Creek State Park in my Super C. It's nice to be on a hard surface when the rains come to Beaumont.

Look up Village Creek State Park in Lumberton Tx. This park is approx 10-15 miles north of Beaumont. It may be what you are looking for. It definately is off the beaten path, but yet is easy to get to.

The Gulf Coast RV Park, open and wide, nice spaces. discounts. Stayed there a few years back. This is more a resort than campground. Reread your post.

No park is perfect but for the most part, state parks have more space between the campers and have more nature, less commercialism.
