Camping near Washington and Jefferson National Forests

On our way back from NC this summer we are considering stopping at Washington and Jefferson National forest for a day or possibly 2. We'd like to hike some of the Appalachian Trail. We are hoping fo...

In Virginia, the Appalachian Trail mostly goes through Shenandoah National Park. If you are only staying for a day or two and you want electric, your best bet is the State Park near Front Royal (Shenandoah River State Park).

If you are interested in the south end, try Hungry Mother State Park.
