- fanrgsExplorerI would also recommend staying near Portage Glacier and driving your toad through the tunnel if you are just going into Whittier to sightsee or take the glacier tour. Whittier is small and very cramped; parking is at a premium. Of course, if you are planning to take the ferry from Whittier to Valdez, that's a different story.

I live here in AK, and i use this. best of luck and enjoy AK, its awesome. - wanderingdawgsExplorerWe loved Williwaw U.S. Forest Service Campground on Portage Glacier Road. You'll have no problem finding a site big enough for your rig. Pictures and description of the campground are in my blog post Two relaxing nights in Chugach National Forest

- CA_TravelerExplorer IIIHave you checked the Church Alaska book? Creekside is a large gravel lot in Whittier.
Portage Valley RV Park is very nice, BBqs, fire pit with firewood under shelter all provided. There are also 2 USFS CGs on Portage Valley Road that are nice. These CGs are before the tunnel. I'd recommend one of these and drive into Whittier.
