Cape Cod Vacation

Thanks to everyone who offered up recommendations for Cape Cod earlier this summer. We used many of the recs from this thread and had an amazing time. Here is an article that we just published on the Jayco Journal that highlights the best parts of our trip. I hope you enjoy it!

We go to the Cape in the spring and fall. Most restaurants and attractions are still open, but most of the tourists are gone. I've been going to the Cape for over 60 years, and just like everything else things have changed (who else remembers the Hyannis Rotary on Rt 6?). But many back roads and secluded spots are still there. Unless you like shopping and traffic stay out of Hyannis and off Rt 28 and you should have a great time. Rt 6A is still a great meander headed along the North shore of the Cape

Wow--I forgot to check in on this topic that I started and just did. So thankful for all of the responses. This is like my own personal guidebook! We will be blogging about the trip so please follow along if you are interested. Again--super duper thanks for the recommendations. This is exactly why I love this forum.

Try Lost Dog Pub either in Orleans or E. Dennis Things getting busier as all you tourist come back!!!

Take a Whale Watch Tour out of PTown or a Seal Tour. We like Naucet Beach in Orleans where you can watch the seals swim by. Just be prepared for cold water and stones in the water. Nice clam shack on the beach.

Be careful pulling in / out of Atlantic Oaks....it's on the main drag. Taking a trip to P-Town and going on the Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch is worth every penny, and P-Town has some interesting shops. Haven't been to the Cape in 3 years, been going 15 years prior....we stay at Shady Knolls in Brewster (sister to Atlantic Oaks), as some has said, a stop at the Brewster General Store, and the Ice Cream Shop, and don't forget Cobies in Brewster

Beware the weekends; traffic, crowds, lines at restaurants!

Arnolds...oh yes, you have to get the fried Lobster, so awesome!

We take the dogs over to the bay where they can swim till their hearts content.
Hard to find a "bad" restaurant, There is a lobster house in Chatham that is pretty awesome, I can't remember the name but it's right on the main road.

You'll enjoy the cape even without any recommendations, it's awesome!

Sher
