We think Caprock is tied with Inks Lake and Davis Mountains as the best state park in Texas.
Pali Duro is very good, but we prefer the quiet of Caprock. Campground isn’t as large or busy as any of the three in Palo Duro.
Lake Arrowhead - we’ve been there for day use, never camped there. Seems a bit barren to us and too open for the winds which tend to blow across north Texas.
I assume you know about the daily access fees at Texas State Parks. If you are going to be at Texas State Parks for 8 to 10 nights, purchasing a yearly access pass is cheaper than paying the daily fee.
That daily fee is in addition to the campground fee at almost all Texas State Parks.
