- FordDiesel250ExplorerCan't go wrong with Caprock or Copper breaks. We have been to both and my favorite is Caprock. Where are you located? That might make a difference on how far you have to drive.
- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIWe've been to Caprock and it was very nice.
- PawPaw_n_GramExplorerI prefer Caprock Canyons.
Copper Breaks isn't a bad choice, just like Caprock better.
The 24 sites at Copper Breaks are atop a hill and can get windy when we've been there. Some real unique old picnic table shelters.
The Caprock campsites are also on a ridge, but among trees, not out in the open as much.
Copper Breaks is pretty small, but some nice short hiking trails. Caprock Canyons is much larger and has longer trails. Hopefully the state buffalo herd will be visible if you visit. - agesilausExplorer IIIWe camped at Copper Breaks but visited Caprock on our way to Palo Duro. I'd liked Caprock better. Palo Duro is better than either of the other two tho.
- 4huskersExplorerWe stopped at Caprocks last April and really enjoyed it. Not as big a canyon as Palo Duro, but I think the colors are richer. Enjoyed photographing the Borrowing Owls and Prairie Dogs.
- DebbieExplorerWe stayed at Copper Breaks a year ago to try out new 5fw. We happened to time it when they were having walk to the stars. They had giant telescopes and we were able to look at the sun and late that night the planets and moon. It was neat. They also have a little museum in the office which is nice also. We stayed at Caprock about 6 yrs ago. It was nice also for hiking. We also love Palo Duro and the play.
- BonefishExplorerCaprock is really neat to see the bison roaming the park & campground.
