Thanks for the tip about the texas pass but we will only be staying a couple/3 nights in texas on our way through.
Caprock is $4/adult per day entrance fee so if there is just the two of you for three days, that will be a 24 entry fee. The pass is $70 and it gives you 1/2 price camping fee on your second night (can be used three times). At Caprock that would save you an additional 8.50 -11.00 depending on a 30 or 50 amp site. That still wouldn't be good enough to offset its cost if you are just staying in a Texas park for the three days for the next year. However if there is a chance you would be at another park or two in the next year, the pass is the way to go. All it takes is one more similar stay and you have paid for the pass. At Palo Duro you would save the $5/adult per day entry fee. We usually stay at both when we pass through.
If your old enough to know who he was, there is a Bob Wills Museum in Turkey, TX just east of Caprock that is pretty good and inexpensive.
