  • Thanks for the info been looking at the map to decide what looks best kinda on the out of the way site so my dogs don't bark at everyone
  • They were just acquired by Sun Resorts. I don't know if this is going to affect the service or the pricing. We were there for 10 days in August 2010. The current pricing is significantly higher since we were there. It is a wide open commercial campground but was very clean and offered great service. There was a free shuttle from the campground that will take you to Assateague or to OC a couple times a day... the beach and pools were nice as well. Be sure to visit the BBQ stand down the road on the way to OC.... awesome pulled pork!
  • Stayed there a couple times for a bluegrass festival in September. Nice enough CG if you want a big commercial CG. They have all of the ammenities one could possibly want.

Our preference is Assateague National Seashore, nearby. The horses come right through the sites there. The sites are huge & widely sepparated at a fraction of a Castaways price. However it is dry camping. I would think that mid summer is pretty miserable without power.
  • It's a busy campground, but it's a pretty nice one. It does lack shade - it's very open. Great for big rigs - there are a LOT of them there. We go every year in June and last year (when I was having toy hauler envy) there were tons of tri-axle 40+ foot toy haulers and huge class a's in there. The bay is awesome for the kids - they have a 'wipe out zone' of soft floating climbing stuff and my kids LOVE it. The bay gets about waist deep depending on the tides, and there is a huge sandbar that you can go out on and hang out for fishing or clamming. The pool is very nice, albeit small for the campground size, but we've always managed to have a good time in it. We don't drive into Ocean City for true beach, we drive to Assateage Island. I think it's 15 dollars for a full week pass, and it's a wonderful beach (no lifeguards), with nice parking lots. The toilets are outhouses, but they do the trick. There are showers to rinse feet and chairs off before you get back in car. The ponies are almost always around on the beach and often walk right down through the masses of people and get in the water. You do have to really watch them with food laying at your towels etc, because they will absolutely take a bag of Doritos out of your hands, and they aren't above snarfing a box of wine. Don't ask how we know this.

All that said, we really like it there, and prefer it over Frontiertown, which is right down the street.
  • Depends on the time of year. Summer can be rowdy especially July 4th weekend isn't fun or pleasant with the rowdies.
Call them to ask for site lengths.
  • yes, a nice, clean, but expensive resort close to Ocean City MD. Its a great place if you have kids. They have many activities for children and a pet friendly beach. I did not like the interior sites because I felt boxed in. I like the sites along the back and the water front sites. They have plenty of room for your rig.
