Be sure to plan a day at least at the Soo. When you first get to town, drop a person with a phone at the locks visitor center and have them look at the board there. You really want to be in the "peanut gallery" to watch them flush a ship through. There is the extension of the Whitefish point museum there too. Then, there are three museums in town, and two are real good. The River of History Museum (closed Sundays) is worth your time as is the Valley Camp museum ship. The Tower is only worth it if it is free with the ticket.
Either river side campground there is good.
