Charleston & Savannah In April

We will be traveling with our 90 year old mother in April. She has always wanted to see Charleston & Savannah. Would like to know what campgrounds to use and must see places in each city. We know there will be a lot of walking so we are renting her a electric scooter. Thank you for your input ,it really is appreciated.

  • Check out some free car parking in Charleston too. If you have a disability card. We like James Island County Park for Charleston. Easy to get into the city from there. We like Skidaway State Park in Savannah. With the freeway it is fairly easy to get into the city. We do the carriage tour in Charleston and the trolley tour in Savannah. Saves walking and parking to get an overview of each city. I do both cities on my mobility scooter but the cobblestones are a killer. Some nice walkways end at stairs but I haven't found too much of a problem with back-tracking some. If you ask at the host post in places, they often have a way to get into places on the scooter if all you see is steps. This does not apply for historic places but some you get a reduced rate if you can't get upstairs or downstairs. Pays to call and ask.

You will need to checkout the accessibility, but Charleston has some free trollies. Savannah has the Old Town Trolley and likely some others.
