Collier-Seminole SP Naples Fl

Just looked at RVParkReviews and only saw one review of this location since it was closed for renovations. Has anyone stayed here since it reopened and the renovations have been complete? I have reservations there over New Years and was wondering how it was. Close enough that I may just take a drive to see for myself. Thanks for any insight you guys can provide.
  • We stayed last week - it's open but the trail is still closed. I don't see much "improvement", but haven't been there for quite a while. Sites are still gravel, looks like a upgraded bath-house, but I don't remember the other one as we use our own when we need it usually. Looks like part of the underbrush has been removed since last time.

It's a nice CG, and still 'rustic' in a sense, but we like that anyway.

While you are exploring the area, stop at Stan's in Goodland on Sunday -- just down the road from the park.
Janes Scenic Drive is also nearby.... you'll see lots of gators and maybe a panther. Loop road is also a great drive.

  • So we stayed there last night. The new bathroom is a vast improvement - the old one was awful with a sort of trough of gray water running along the wall beneath the shower and sink plumbing. The only strange thing is that you have to walk all the way around to the back of the bathroom to enter, so access faces away from most campsites.

The sites are not paved and have poorly-defined areas of scattered white gravel, so your parking area for RV and/or vehicle is a messy mix of grass, mud and gravel. There were a lot of muddy areas and ruts all around the grounds. The power boxes appear to be new, but the breaker on ours tripped about three times (site 100) for no apparent reason.

Wooden railings have been added to separate the sites. Some roads have new paving. There are new ramps leading into the screened pavilion. I agree that the dump station arrangement is a bit odd.

I'd avoid the back row of sites (the wide base of the inverted triangle) when booking. There used to be thicker foliage back there behind the sites, so you'd hardly know highway 41 was behind you. Now you can actually see and hear cars whizzing by behind some of the sites.
  • We're heading there Thursday - so, will post something here when we get back home next weekend.
  • Thanks for the info. I have site 78, it looks plenty big enough by the picture on ReserveAmerica. Campsitephotos.com doesn't have a very good picture of the site.
  • I stopped by a few weeks ago, the day after they reopened, to use the dump facilities. Though utilities have been upgraded and a new bath house as been added, I really didn't see the kind of changes that I would have liked. The layout is still the same with many sites too small or configured poorly. For example, the dump has a drain on both sides but the road into it is still right in the campground (as in between campsites) with the way in being one way. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought all RVs dumped from the driver's side and with a one way road, why have drain on both sides. Passenger side is useless unless they are encouraging RVers to enter the wrong way. Both drains are at least 10-15' off the drive without an easy way to get your RV closer so it needs a fairly long hose run to use it. Just not what I expected after having my neighboring park closed for business for nearly 2 years.
  • We are staying the end of this month. I'll make a note to find this thread and/or put in a review to RVPR.com.
