Would like recommendations for a cool location in Arkansas for July and August, if there is one. State RV Park or private ??
Cool - Arkansas - July and August - nope, none in all my life raised in the state.
Cooler than the hottest - Petit Jean and Mount Magazine are cooler. Say 90s to high 90s sometimes.
Being on a lake where you can take a swim helps. I've spent as much as 12 hours a day in the water. Need lots of sunscreen.
Arkansas is a fantastic state - but it is in the south and has high temps and moderately high humidity in the summer.
Though that will be better than the temps in the Rio Grande Valley.
We would leave Dallas in July and go to Lake Ouachita near Hot Springs in recent years. It wasn't cool, but was much better than Dallas. - JnJnKatiebugExplorerPetit Jean State Park or Mount Magazine State Park. They will not be cool but will be cooler than anywhere else. Mount Magazine State Park is the highest place in Arkansas. On average it is about 10 degrees cooler that the lower elevations but it can be 100 degrees in July or August so that means it will probably still be 90 degrees with lots of humidity. Both places have nice campgrounds with full hookups and are beautiful.
- diazr2ExplorerPetit Jean State Park Fabulous place.
