Dead horse state park UT

Looking for any info you can give about the campground facilities. We would be looking at going around the middle of Sept. Don't know if we will need reservations at time of the year? Etc
Thanks!

(Where's 4runnerguy's awesome write-up on Moab?) Hello? Are you out there? :)
Just bumped the Primer on Moab post so it's easier to find.

OP - yeah, reservations at Dead Horse are needed until November. It's probably already booked full for mid-September as the weather is getting quite fine by then. And don't plan on arriving on a Friday and getting a first-come, first-served site.
  • Great location and campground. Funny story, when the boys were young we stopped here on our way back from Colorado. After setting up, my youngest was upset..... Where are all the horses??? His brother promptly smacked him in the head and said " that's why it's called DEAD horse state park you idiot" Took a lot of effort and tongue biting not to burst out laughing!
  • Stayed here this summer. It was great for exploring Arches and the canyons around the campground. We were there in August so the electricity was nice for the AC. Kids had a blast riding bikes on the very nicely paved roads! We really liked it and it wasn't busy.

Fun fact - the wind blows like crazy at night; I was unaware of this until the first night...
