Gary, thanks for the link on an interesting DV trip!
However (...there's always a however), I saw a couple of red flags in the photos:
1) I notice that the vehicles were pickup trucks ... why not [certain models of] small Class C rigs? :B
2) I notice that most of the roads they traveled on in DV looked completely passable by [certain models of] small Class C rigs. :B
