We are just sitting at a CG at the moment in sunny and warm Wa. (up to near 90) with friends contemplating our next RVing trip as far as Disneyland next summer. They have a son they want to take to Disneyland for a few days.Are there any relatively decent RV parks in a reasonable distance from Disneyland and that hopefully won't cost an arm and a leg? We have RPI and would prefer to stay at one of theirs to reduce the cost. There is Anaheim Resort RV Park but they charge over $80 a night!! (Ouch.) Since we'd be away during the daytime, we won't be needing something with all the full amenities but may be willing to pay a big premium for some shade trees to keep the TTs cool. ;)

If it doesn't cost an arm and a leg you probably don't want to be there.

I remember it being a real dust bowl. Shortly after setting up camp, a large group of bikers showed up and set up next to us. Ah, the good 'ol days. Canyon RV Park is about 15 miles from Disneyland, a nice park it sets close to the FWY but has a park like feeling with large trees. They have a good weekly rate considering where they are at. I use this park a lot,it is close to home and my kids and Grandkids love this place Swimming and bike riding ,Goin next week for 10 days.

Try East Shore RV Park in San Dimas, CA - close to Disneyland (off the 57 Freeway) about 20 minutes south. Peaceful place that isn't an arm and a leg!

Eastshore is nice, Canyon is nice, Oneill is nice (no electric).

But I'd recommend the Anaheim Resort. Consider gas, parking fees, general hassle. I've stayed at Orangeland RV park and taken shuttle to Disneyland. It's been a while and it seemed it constricted our hours to get the return trip. The park itself is fine. These central RV parks have good access to restaurants if that's your thing.

Like I was saying earlier, the San Dimas area has 2 campgrounds that are just north of Disneyland and both perfectly affordable. KOA at Pomona Fairgrounds and East Shore RV Park:

East Shore RV Park - San Dimas

KOA - Pomona

It's about 20 minutes (35 during traffic) south on the 57 freeway to Disneyland. Problem solved!

Before you finalize reservations at any RV park more than 10 miles from Disneyland, ask Google Maps to estimate travel time for that route during the morning hours.

If the park costs more but saves you an hour or more of heavy traffic before you get to the parks, it may be worth it.

When I lived in California I told people I lived 20-minutes South of Disneyland. That's an accurate middle of the night estimate now, but at 9am that could easily exceed an hour.

Having retired from Temecula, I can assure that traffic in & around Orange Co (where Disneyland is located) is going to cost you far more in time & frustration than you are going to save by staying at RV parks further removed. We were at Anaheim RV about a month ago. Checked out some - definitely not all - of the parks mentioned previously. Our conclusion was that if Disneyland was the reason to be there, Anaheim RV was a bargain. Don't even think about walking from there. Use the shuttle that leaves from there.

Los Angeles is not an RV friendly county, as cost of land and various restrictions make developing a park prohibitive. Therefore, to be close to Disneyland you will have to pay. If you are willing to drive for 30 min to 90 min depending on traffic you can find some decent parks. But by national standards they are still very expensive for what is offered. Out my way you have Castaic RV park, Travel Village RV in Valencia by Magic Mountain and perhaps Acton KOA. All will be about 90 minutes from Disneyland, as little as 45 minutes if your lucky, but don't count on that. For one day at Disney all are OK, if your going to do the Parkhopper thing and visit both parks over two days staying close in does have advantages. Also parking at Disney is $20/car and there is limited RV parking (not to mention horrible LA traffic in an RV). You can walk or shuttle to Disney from the local RV parks. The closest RV park to Disney is about a mile walk (not a straight line because of the highway)and you get very little besides a cleaning parking lot with hookups in a close location.
