X2 agree with DrewE on Corning Glass Museum. Science, History and Art museum (and cool store) all in one. Also close by is Watkins Glen beautiful and easy hike (take shuttle to top and hike down) and also in that area, the wineries around Seneca Lake are lots of fun.
