I can't remember exactly, but there are portions of the GSP where RVs aren't allowed. I don't know if that's motor home or if they mean trailers as well. - jplante4Explorer IIWe avoid I95 through Connecticut at all cost. 2 lanes for miles. If a truck tries to pass another truck the entire road gets backed up. Plus they've been working on the I91-I95 interchange in New Haven for 20 years and it's not getting any better. Do yourself a favor and take I84. If you're coming from the south shore/Cape Cod, just take I95 to New London then pick up route 9 to I84. Otherwise, take the Pike to I84.

Yup ,that looks good. Avoid DC traffic if at all possible. Returning from OBX to WNY last summer I tried DC and 95 on a sunday, big mistake!
So maybe RT13 through Delaware wouldnt be such a bad idea - PCronin68ExplorerI am going over the TappanZee Bridge and going down Rt287 to Garden State Parkway. At least avoid NY. When I go further south I got out RT78 to pick up Rt81 South. This trip didnt think I would benefit using RT81. I just think Rt13 though Delaware would be slow

- jplante4Explorer IIWe did that exact route last May. We stopped a couple of places along the way, but our route was I84-I87-I287-I80-I81 to Winchester VA where you pick up US50 and US17 to get you back to I95 just north of Fredricksburg. This looks like a long way around, but you miss all of NYC and DC. Also, 50 and 17 are very scenic and relaxing.
From there we did I95-I295-I64 then Rts 168/158 down the Currituck Peninsula, across the bridge to the OXB and down Rt 12.
You will need to stop at the propane checkpoints before going througn Norfolk tunnels. They just want to see that your propane is shut off.
