Yeah, use to do that but then it was $15 a month. Then you get NY or LA garbage and not the area garbage you are living in. A simple 2 minute call to the Directv moving phone number and asking for a seasonal address change is FREE and no messing with the OTA.

After a lot of hassles with Directv agents, one told me that the key was to tell
who ever you get that you wanted to change your PHYSICAL address. Since then no problems when ever we moved or how often.

I don't know about all this switching, I had my wingard traveler switched on before leaving home, got to S.C. called them, they wanted the zip where I was so I could get local channels, did so and got them. The fellow said, when you get to where your going, I'll have to call with the zip so I can get local channels. Nuts! I got to where I was going, got set up, turned it on and picks up all the local channels without calling and giving them the zip, seems the blind are leading the blind over at Dish.

You are probably correct about 2 switches per year before they start freaking out. We used to have a Direct TV dish at our boat dock on Lake Michigan. We would have them switch it to our "summer" home 2 or 3 times every summer and they never questioned it.

We have found while traveling we do great on the antenna for local channels. Since we are only at two different locations each year long term it is working out now just switching twice.

C-Bears, Directv policy seems to allow the two switches a year without a problem. More can be and issue with them. Dish is reported as easier on this. I just say I am at my winter location. Please switch service address. Billing is electronic and payment automagic, so that is not an issue.

The first year of traveling with the Wineguard Travler Dish on top of our fiver we called Direct-TV every few days and had them switch us. We soon learned that is not the way to go.

Sometimes we would get a customer service rep that just could not understand and insist on switching our "billing" address. Another time the service rep had to go find a supervisor because he thought we should be charged for switching locations. Even had one ask the definition of a 5th wheel. When she did not understand what that was I tried to explain it as an Recreational Vehicle and she never understood that either.

Needless to say we only switch twice a year now. Once when we get to central Illinois for a 2 or 3 month summer visit and when we get to Florida for a 4 month stay.

For local channels while traveling the other 5 or 6 months we use our antenna.

Well I know how to get Directv to switch addresses as we spent 5 winter in the East valley. Last year we stayed home and this year we are going on a 1 month exporing trip to Hemet, Yuma, Mesa and Gold Canyon(home away from home). We have a Slimline SWM HD dish and will call at Hemet and just see how it goes for there. Thanks Chris
