We've gone to FW about 15 times in the last 10 years. Our first stay at the Fort in November of 2005 was $38/night in a premium site with AAA discount (we booked a preferred site and upgraded at the gate for no additional charge). Now the same time a year for a premium site is more than 3 times that amount.
We love Fort Wilderness. We go for the campground, not Disney World. In the last 10 years, we've gone to the Parks on 4 trips, twice we just went to 1 park during our stay.
We've stayed in Full Hookup sites, Preferred sites and Premium sites. Compared to the pictures posted in this thread of that Cedar Point campground, all Fort Wilderness sites are massive. Every loop we've stayed at had trees between sites and plenty of room between sites.
We love that cars can't be driven through the loops. We wish they'd ban golf carts too. We walk and bike all over Fort Wilderness and to Wilderness Lodge. Walking/Biking along the lake from the Fort to the Lodge is a very peaceful walk/bike. We usually don't take buses around the Fort. It's just easier to walk or bike.
