driving down i95

How many of you will be leaving thursday or friday after christmas and going down i95 to florida. I will be leaving thursday night and was wondering how busy it will be.
Happy holidays to all and safe travels
  • Drove back to NC from Fl last Wedn. and traffic was light to normal. Lots of police running radar in Georgia, as usual, ...beware.
  • When we are on the East coast I always use I-81 instead of I-95. I'll drop down I-77 if I'm headed for the east coast, otherwise I-81 to I-75.

However we'll be flying back to Tucson on the 26th since the rig is already there.
  • I drove the motorhome down I-95, from I-26, to FL Dec. 3rd. Traffic was very, very light.

I drove the car back to PA for the holidays Dec. 15th.

We'll return in the car Jan. 2nd.

Hopefully, everyone will be in FL by then.

    Marry Christmas to all.

  • Well the busy is not a bad thing for us, we have all we need with us, montclair, by Monaco . 29ft. So we just set back and keep our eyes pealed, and ready for each persons idea of driveing 20k lbs down the road ,ok be safe everyone , hh to allow ita all happy-camping
  • It will be hard to tell given how the holidays fall. I think it will be a heavy travel day, but I think nowhere near as heavy as a normal rush hour plus weekend. We used to leave the weekend before christmas for 2 weeks in FL, but without any school age kids in the group of families traveling south right now, we opt to go after new years when its generally less crowded.

Of course, we start in Northern VA and skip DC entirely by using 234, but we take 95 from there south and rarely encountered much in the way of stop and go traffic.
  • I-95 is ALWAYS busy!! I have never been on there that it has not had lots of traffic, some days or nights more than lots. Some times at a stand-still.

Wish I were heading to the warmer climate, but...going on a cruise in 3 weeks will have to suffice.

A friend was on it Saturday and it took over six hours to go through Georgia instead of two hours. No obvious accidents... Good luck
  • We will be in Delaware by mid day Friday, headed for the Bay Bridge tunnel:)and first night stop in Virginia Beach.
