As a refugee from the megopolis, do not try to cross the Hudson south of the Tappan Zee Bridge - Terrytown. Plan your route to stay away from the CT south coast at least until you pass New Haven and maybe even Hartford.
The only thing I miss living out in sweet water is the good seafood. If you can pick a lobster with barnacles on it, that is the one you want. (If he has had that shell that long, it is full.)
