Eastern NC to Cooperstown NY to Niagara Falls

Would like to carry my parents (ages 70's) to the following places this summer:
Gettysburg then Cooperstown NY then Over to Niagara Falls (their honeymoon site). I would be pulling their 25ft TT.

Do you think an 12 day/11 night trip will cover it? Here is what I am thinking.

Day 1 - eastern Nc to Charlottesville Va
Day 2 - Day 4 to Gettysburg area Cg
Day 5 -7 Cooperstown area CG
Day 8-10 Niagara area cg
Day 11 - travel home
Day 12 - arrive home

Too much?

  • A bit away from Cooperstown but we loved Herkimer KOA and drove the 30 miles to Cooperstown. I think NC to Cville in one day then to Gettysburg the next. You might get down to Monticello if you add a day there. I would take it from Gettysburg.
  • Is it true that Clay Akins, the one time singer, may become your state senator? LOL
  • If you're going to Niagara Falls, you might want to bring your passports. You cannot travel to and return from Canada without one now. Visiting Canada from Niagara is a nice side trip while you're there.

  • Looks like a very do-able trip. We have visted every one of the stops you mentioned, but not all on the same trip.

We made a 3000 mile trip in 2012 which included Niagara Falls and Charlottsville. But then I was younger, only 79. :)

Last Summer we made a western trip of over 5000 miles, so we are not slowing down much.

Congratulations to your parents. That trip in 2012 was our very first time to visit Niagara Falls so we called that our 55th anniversary honeymoon.
  • They are probably better than I am. Hip replacement in the future but I would do 90% of the driving.
  • I don't think so if they are in good health. I think you can go further on day one than going from NC to Virginia. Maybe you could get to the lower portion of PA. if you go 81, it is smoothing sailing. I can recommend Four Mile Creek in Youngstown for your stop at Niagara Falls. Free entrance on the US side to Niagara Falls State Park and the tram system to take you through the viewing spots. Don't forget Maid of the Mist.
