In addition to the above suggestions, there's also the Manitou Incline Railway that goes to the top of Pikes Peak; the town itself is also a fun place to visit, even though you're not interested in shopping. There's still much to see there. And that's just the tip of the iceberg...

Not the place I could spend a week - Garden of the God's - USAFA - Broadmoor -Pikes Peak - Zoo - then get on Rt 24 heading West to Buena Vista and the Collegiate Peaks, Great drive and the Collegiate Peaks are just awesome.

The view from my site at Cheyenne Mountain State Park was amazing, especially at night.

Garden of the gods is a favorite attraction there. I think there is cliff dwellings and cave of the winds down there.
