If you had a private business not engaged with the public that provided even a semi essential business I think you could have found a way to keep going.

Same with restaurants that expanded take out and delivery. This all continued during the "lockdown". Those that adapted are making it go. No police were coming down the streets to arrest you for being outside so the "lockdown" was a bit of a misnomer. If a person needed to do something essential there was no penalty. People still travelled just fine if they had to get some place. If you have literally been inside the entire time I think you took it too far.

I expect the same from politicians as I expect of myself. The previous president did not come close to meeting my standard for myself on a near continuous basis. We all slip and need a pass now and then. Newsom is at least making an effort for the right reasons for the people not just to promote himself and his cronies and leaving the public to fend for themselves.

I’m actually for masks wearing and pretty much all other precautions. I’m not for do as I say because I said to and I’m not for watching small businesses go under because of unequal enforcement of a mandate. No large gatherings and no restaurants means no large gatherings and no restaurants. Not it’s okay if you take precautions or you are catering to a movie company That wasn’t the mandate.

Again movie set has many regulations for safety to operate. A public restaurant has few to none in comparison. Any group could arrive together remove masks and have a jolly time. Try to imagine a Tom Cruise rant at a restaurant to get patrons to follow the rules. What we have in reality is people insisting on being served while denouncing any safety precautions. We have all seen the freedom rants at Costco, Walmart and the rest. I know first hand several people that went to a gathering knowing they were sick just to get covid confirmation the next day. So far I have avoided these gatherings. I know several that have survived the ventilator, and at least one that did not.

Newsom already said it was a poor choice. Not really a reason to recall. He is not in your house verifying who you have visit. Try not to hold Newsom to a higher standard than you hold yourself.

The thing is, he (and all politicians/leaders) should be held to a higher standard. How many times did we hear about the previous Pres not setting a good example for others to follow? It works both ways.

If he/they are going to claim the science says restaurants shouldn't be open, because of the congregation of people, but a caterer can cater a movie production, well, where's the science in that?

He's not my GOV, but I would have signed the petition if he was, because I do expect our leaders to lead by example, and to hold themselves, and those that work for them, to a higher standard.
