Fishing Bridge Campground Yellowstone

I we are planning on going to Yellowstone next summer in August sometime. I thought about spending a couple days at Fishing Bridge but the only sites left are for rigs 35' and under. I have a Class A that is 35' 11". Do I dare try it or would that be a mistake? Thanks in advance

I would say go ahead and reserve it... but if you don't want to gamble, Grisly RV Park is just outside the park boundary in West Yellowstone. We just spent a week there.

Remember too that if your rig is right to the front edge, others need to negotiate around it when parking their rigs. If you tow another vehicle, there simply just may not be room enough. I agree with the above post. If they state 'up to 35 ft.--35 ft is probably stretching it already.

Not true the parking is beside the RV the sites are double wide for this purposes - you will be fine in a 35
  • Good to know, having never been there it's hard to know. I have no interest in a divorce or missing my rig for a few months while it's getting repairs just to try and save a few minutes if drive time. We'll just find a spot out of the park this year. Thanks for all your advice!

x2 and that's because it depends on what site you are given and the amount of space given to back in from road (trees don''t move) Our first time at Fishing Bridge we had a devil of a time backing our 33' FW in to what they claimed could hold a 35'. We made it but we were almost divorced by the time my DH got the FW placed and we took out a few dozen tree branches for good measure. This year we were given a space that was 35' max and we backed in one attempt. My best guess would be if they say 35 and under what they really mean is 35' is stretching it.

Could have been easier the second time because you had more experience with backing. :)

Here are some pictures of the campground to give you an idea of space. Note that your vehicle will be parked next to your RV.

  • I wouldn't try it. They're tight enough for 27 feet! However, you could see if they have a wait list, or check back periodically for cancellations.

Or a lot of people with rentals that don't know what a 6ft overhang from the rear axle will do in a tight turn!
