Thinking about planning a trip to Yellowstone in August. There appears to be some sites available in the Fishing Bridge campground at a time when we could go there. We have a 25-foot travel trailer. Has anyone here been to that campground before? Have any thoughts about it. Is it a yay or a nay? Should we look for something else or give it a try?

August is great. Fishing Bridge is notoriously crowded and expensive. We used Henry's Lake CG near West Yellowstone and then Headwaters CG near the South gate.

The best thing about it is that it is in the park. It was pretty much a paved parking lot with hookups when we were there. It has been a few years since we were there so it could have changed. There are prettier campgrounds if you don't need hookups.

Was there last year. The campground is centrally located in the park. Look at it as a base camp.

We were there last summer, it is a bit tight, but I have seen worse commercial campgrounds. It is mostly paved, and there is not much space between sites, but there are at least some small pine trees, etc. The big positive point to Fishing Bridge is that it is the only full hookup campground in Yellowstone.

Here are some photos of Fishing Bridge. I've seen worse RV parks and they are truly parking lots. This at least has trees. The sites are such that you park your RV to one side of it and your vehicle on the other side.If you want hookups and are there to see the park, this is the place for you. Typically folks pack their cooler, leave early in the morning to tour one section of the park and return toward evening - very tired and ready for bed. I would go with Fishing Bridge. I would hardly consider it a paved parking lot! Yea it is tight, but still the best location. Besides, you will be out all day.

Get on the phones and get a date booked before it disappears!

It's a trade off. I think the campground is as bad as everyone says but you are in the middle of the park. I could do it for a few nights but after that I would be looking to move. I opted not to stay because I enjoy getting back to camp having a fire and relaxing a bit outside.

Probably the worst campground we've been in. Very tight for a 35' MH and toad. We were in the back, gravel roads full of potholes. But you are in the park in a good location. Saves a lot of travel time getting in and out. We spent the days touring the park, we weren't there for the camping experience.
