Flagstaff, Oak Creek, Sedona Campground Recommendations

We are planning a trip at the end of Oct beginning Nov (this year) to Flagstaff, Oak Creek and Sedona for a couple of weeks and would appreciate campground recommendations. We travel with a 30' TT and two dogs.
Thanks for your assistance.

  • Dead Horse Ranch. We spend 2 weeks or so there every winter. They're never full and have great walking trails along the river or on the hills. They stock trout in the Verdi River and the parks two fishing ponds. They do not have sewer connections at the sites, but there's a good dump just inside the entrance.
  • I second Dead Horse SP in Cottonwood. That time of year it can be gorgeous or pretty cold at higher elevations, depending on the weather.

Cottonwood (3400' alt.) is a an hour or a little more to Flagstaff (7000')and Prescott (5200'), 25 minutes to Sedona (4300'), 10 minutes to Jerome (5000') and less than 2 hours to Phoenix (1100').
  • Pinegrove, southeast of Flagstaff is probably the nicest CG in the Flagstaff area (Google it). You won't be able to camp on Oak Creek with your rig. The CG's are too tight for a 30" TT. It is a gorgeous area worth exploring so you might want to consider Dead Horse Ranch SP which is 18 miles south of Sedona in the town of Cottonwood. Makes a great base to explore Sedona, Jerome, Prescott and of course Cottonwood itself (neat little town that is definitely worth your time). :C
  • Look at Distant Drums CG in Camp Verde, Az. We loved it there and it's close to Sedona.
