Michael -- I mentioned living here in Central Florida for almost 15 years... I moved here from Brunswick, GA. Born and raised! :) While we're at it, know of any good local spots there where I can home-base when visiting the fam? I've always been aware of the Jekyll Island campground, but never stayed there. We come back up 4 or 5 times a year, usually around holidays.

While it may seem like I'm not answering or paying attention, I'm actually over here feverishly researching all of your recommendations one at a time! Exactly what I was looking for, because while I have run across some of these in my general searches, so many of these I haven't run across yet. Getting very excited at the possibility, and my list is getting long! So thank you thank you thank you, and keep 'em coming! :D
P.S. -- Many are mentioning Fort Wilderness. Funny, the closest campground to my house is FW (15 minute drive, even with tourist traffic). FW is actually responsible for giving us RV fever. For the past few years since our son was born, we've made it a tradition to stay there the week of Halloween. But, we've only stayed in the cabins. Riding around the CG on our rented golf cart and being blown away by the Halloween site decorators, we absolutely fell in love with the RV lifestyle. The people we have met just driving around there have been the nicest, warmest, most welcoming and fun people to chat with. Every year we've been, we vow to take the leap from the "cabin people" to the campsites so our son can fully experience the camping culture. And that's what has lead us to this point! On top of that, we are avid Disney fans (we're at the parks every weekend almost) and Fort Wilderness is our hands-down favorite place to be in all of WDW. There's a huge place in our hearts for the Fort.
