Florida panhandle reservations

Just got a wild urge to go to the Florida panhandle. Gee all booked up! Go figure. How far in advance do you book Florida panhandle reservations? Talking State Parks and in April-ish.
Thanks
  • Book now if you want an April reservation. We've done the Florida Pan Handle several times, and we booked 9 or 10 months out. And that was for the week of Christmas or the 2nd week of March (Spring break)... and um.... don't try to get a campsite at Panama City during March-April Spring break season. You'll be surrounded by some wild "energy". Go farther inland, and things will be much more calm. Then drive into Panama City for a day trip and experience the craziness!
  • If you are just interested in camping at state parks in Florida, the reservation window opens 11 months in advance. So now, if you're looking to go this year, your best bet is cancellations. There are always cancellations, but you have to check for them pretty much daily. At a lot of the state parks in Florida, there are also some non-reservable sites. They don't really make this known, nor are they actually listed specifically. The strategy is to get a reservable site for a couple of nights, using a cancellation, and then extend your stay by moving to a non-reservable site when your reserved stay runs out.

  • Along the panhandle is tough to get in, I've just about given up. For a spring or summer reservation, 5-6 months ahead there is nothing.

Try some of the private parks. Oh Hum comes to mind.

Did you mean Ho Hum? We stayed there in April a few years ago but had to move after a few days due to spring breaker reservations. Nice little park.
