For the Willow Tree Regulars

We just got back from a nice, rain-soaked weekend at Willow Tree (SC). As always, even though it rained almost the entire time, we had a fun trip. Got to play in the lake a good bit and we played LOTS of pool, ping-pong, and foosball.

But since we've been going to Willow Tree every year for the past four years, I see something that makes me wonder. There are no more hay rides. Virtually no extra activities. They told us the Halloween activities this year will not be done.

Is this the economy or is Willow Tree slowly but surely trying to cater to the older, more quiet crowd? Are they trying to become a nice park more for snow birds and retirees? I say this with all due respect to anyone reading this. It just seemed like the park is becoming less "fun" and more quiet.

If this is the case, OK. I have no issue with it except we'll start going other places. I don't mean that with any ill intent but if a park 15 minutes from the beach starts doing virtually nothing extra, our family will start getting bored.

Am I off base or has anyone else gotten the same feeling recently?
  • Go over to Tabor City - Jellystone it is about 20-30 minutes west. Many activities.

    I agree.

Never been to Willow Tree. But have seen many on here speak highly of it. I've seen pictures of it, but none that had "wowed" me. I do like the idea of the hot tubs. But without the beach right there, and nothing else to draw people, but maybe older couples, it appears it may be shifting that way. Sounds like they might be trying to get away from the weekenders and looking for the snowbird type of folks.
