Free National Park Camping - Great Basin "Boondocking"

Great free designated camping is available along Snake Creek Road in Great Basin National Park. The campsites all have a concrete picnic table and fire ring. Our 25' class C fits nicely and something a bit larger would too.

It takes up to 8 miles of well maintained dead end gravel road to get to the last designated site, but for those wanting walk in comfort, 12 miles at the end of the road is a developed campground.

A couple pics of the area...

We have camped there in our 24ft Class C. It's seems to be a spectacular place and kind of overlooked by passers by who might happen to be in the somewhat remote area where it is. We saw only a small portion of it during an overnight stay, but it definitely offered serene, pristinely beautiful, and quiet camping within an arid, but forested environment.
  • This is by far my most favorite place to camp in Nevada--Wheeler Peak!!!

I'm planning a trip to Snake Creek.....just have not had a chance to get up there and drop a line in the creek.

Here is my trip report from last year...
