French Quarter RV Resort - New Orleans

Hi, We're planning on staying at the French Quarter RV Resort in downtown New Orleans the week of April 7, 2014 during the French Quarter Festival. Has anyone stayed at this RV Park? We we booked, the RV Park lady said it was a two block walk to the French Quarter. I looked on google-map afterwards and it's about 7 blocks. I'm looking for tips regarding safe trips back and forth form the french quarter while we're there. I realize that area can be risky after dark, especially walking outside the french quarter. The RV Park does not provide shuttle service as I'm told. Walking is our fist choice, as we don't want to drive a 1/2 mile and try to find a parking spot in a 3/4 Ton Truck. Is it safe to walk???? Just me and the wife.

  • I thought that they previously would take you down in a golf cart? has that changed? I wouldn't walk back at night myself.

  • If daylight, I would walk half mile and "do" the French Quarter. I would then take a cab back to the RV Park. The cab fare should not cost as much as several hours of parking fees.

We had no issues walking from FQRV to the quarter... both day and night. Police station is right across the street. It is about 2 blocks to the quarter... your 7 blocks is probably to Bourbon St.
Lots of posts about FQRV on this forum for other opinions
  • Most times i go to NOLA you have to park 7 blocks away to find an open spot anyway. Ive always walked and never encountered any major issues, be prepared to be offered many illegal drugs on multiple occasions. Just a simple no and keep walking always works.
