- DesertboyExplorerI understand what your saying and I wouldn't do it myself. These posts are hilarious though, Thanks for all the laughs.
- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIOP - Even if you're buying a new RV, don't assume that the grey tank hasn't been used. Also, even if you redesigned the plumbing yourself the resale is zilch. No one would want to buy it set up like that.
- greenrvgreenExplorerI think the OP means "repurpose" the grey tank . . . I hope.
In other words, buy a new RV, disconnect the grey tank from the waste system and hook it up as a second fresh tank. All waste (black+ grey) would always go into the black tank . . . I hope.
If this is what the Op is asking (I hope), the quick answer is that the black tank isn't big enough for both, and trips will be shorter, not longer. If the OP wants additional fresh water capacity, there are many good options for portable tanks, even jerry cans, which I use.
If the OP really wants to drink grey water, he should set a bowl in the shower to catch water when he showers, and then drink all he wants.
Enjoy!! - Old-BiscuitExplorer III

Korbe. All grey water goes into the black tank. By using the fresh water tank AND the grey water tank filled with fresh water, you can have more fresh water for boondocking. Louie
Yikes and yuck!!!! If your so inclined you could plump gray into line to flush toilet with a seperate pump if you want. But, do not ever use gray for bathing, cooking and damn sure not drinking. I'm still not sure you are communicationing clearly but here is a very clear communication - You Can't Use Gray Tank For Any Kind Of Compsumtion by Humans including a brand new trailer off the dealers lot.
I hope we are all mistaken about your intended usage
THIS, the grey and black tanks are not made for potable water.
Ding, ding, ding......winner.
The waste tanks are NOT made from material that is to be used for water that is consumed (potable).
Now if you care to under go a renovation....
You could plumb your grey waste to black tank
Replace grey tank with a fresh water tank (for potable water use) and increase your fresh water capacity
BUT your waste water capacity will be diminished by the amount of grey tank capacity that has been given up.
IF grey and black tanks use the SAME line to dump them.......
You can install another dump valve towards end of line.
With it closed you can open grey & black dump valves and 'equalize' the tanks giving you longer time frame between having to dump waste tanks. - 2oldmanExplorer II

This statement is not true for any trailer I've ever owned or seen. We are entirely confused. - Dannyabear1Explorer
